Tadashi Shoji's Spring 2018 Collection Was Pure Magic

Tadashi Shoji's Spring/Summer 2018 Ready-to-Wear collection at this year's NYFW was nothing short of amazing. One of the reasons why I was so amazed at these designs was due to the use of astrological patterns in combination with a bohemian aesthetic that resulted in flowy and flirty pieces that were still sophisticated. My favorite aspect of the collection were the details which made dresses look like a night sky covered in stars and planets.

While some of the dresses look like magnificent pieces of wizard-couture, Tadashi also looked outside the box in terms of inspiration and paired these astrological patterns with pale pink and blue fabrics. Keeping some of the details the same color as the dresses they lay on resulted in a more subtle and sophisticated look, while still expressing the magical vibes of the collection.

Bohemian inspirations were also represented on Tadashi's runway alongside sheer fabrics with romantic and feminine garment structure. While the main color in typical bohemian styles is white, I loved how yellow was incorporated as it looks especially amazing on women of color. Tassels at the bottom of the dresses created extra movement and playfulness as well.

The contrast between black and white and the contrast between edgy and romantic looks throughout the collection are what made it so memorable. It is sexy and powerful, which is how fashion should make all women feel.
