5 New Year's Resolutions You Can Actually Keep in 2018

By: Millija Laszkiewicz

At this time of the year, we often sit back and reflect on the previous 12 months and think about what we'd do differently in the next 365 days. However, instead of trying to become someone new, what about trying to be the best version of who we already are? Here are some suggestions for some New Year's resolutions that will improve your health and happiness all year long!

1. Improve Your Posture

Make a promise to yourself that you will sit up a little straighter, walk upright and erase the word "slouch" from your vocabulary. Not only is doing this better for your spine, but it will make you look taller, more put together and allow you to exude confident! Take notes from Bella Hadid, who always seems to keep her back straight and would never be caught dead slouching.

2. Prioritize Hydration

This coming year, challenge yourself to drink two liters of water a day. While this might seem like a lot, water is ultimately the source of life and will keep you feeling energized and healthier as well as leave your skin looking plump and fresh all year round!

3. Stick To Green Tea

Staying on the topic of hydration, try drinking more green tea and less coffee this upcoming year. We all know the satisfying taste of a warm cup of coffee in the morning, but for your body and brain, green tea is the overall winner! Not only does green tea boost the metabolism and increase energy levels, but it can even lower the risk of cancer.

4. Learn Something New

Make a vow this year to learn new vocabulary words, or even a new language. This doesn't mean you should expect to be fluent in Japanese by the end of the year (although that would be fantastic), but if you hear or read a word you haven't come across before, write it down, commit it to memory and use it as much as you can, in whatever language you can!

5. Put Yourself First

In 2018, make sure you take time for yourself. In today's fast-paced world, it can be way too easy to get caught up in everything happening around us and ignore our own needs. This upcoming year, promise yourself that you'll spend more time pampering yourself, keeping a journal or taking the time to mediate.

Of course this isn't a definitive list of resolutions, but it is a great start for you to become the best version of your self in 2018. Happy New Year!
