5 Things To Do To Feel Festive This Holiday Season

Christmas is right around the corner, but if you're like me and aren't quite feeling in the holiday spirit yet don't worry! I just came home from college, and have a small checklist of 5 activities that I want to do to get more excited about Christmas this year. So grab your mug and blast some holiday music, it's time to get festive!

1. Finish Wrapping Presents

Any last minute gifts you need to wrap? Set aside some time where you can work on putting them together and play some Christmas music to make it even more fun! There are so many unique ways to wrap presents, even making your own wrapping paper to add a personal touch. After you finish wrapping, store them under your tree until you're ready to give them out, this way you know exactly where they are, and they add to your decorations. This will be sure to make you feel more festive in no time!

2. Make A Gingerbread House

Gingerbread houses are not only fun to make, but also easy to find! I'm sure that stores like Target, CVS, and Shoprite still have some for sale, regular or miniature sizes. These are great to make with friends and family, or you can just pick up one and do it yourself! Making gingerbread houses is also a great holiday activity because you can either eat them right afterward or use them to decorate your living space.

3. Have A Christmas Movie Marathon

Make sure to grab some blankets, snacks, and get cozy! With my time off, I'm excited to be able to relax and enjoy some classic holiday films. Elf, Home Alone, The Polar Express, Charlie Brown Christmas, and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer are just a few of my all-time favorites. I'm also excited to watch some newer ones, The Princess Switch being the one I'm most excited about.

4. Make Christmas Cookies

Whether you make them from scratch or from the Pillsbury packages (the latter being my usual method), the scent of baking cookies makes your kitchen smell amazing and feel cozy. My family and I traditionally make pizzelles (an Italian cookie) and dip them in chocolate, but I have just as much fun rolling out the Pillsbury dough and using cute cookie cutters or even simply putting the precut ones on trays. Make sure to also pick up some icing and sprinkles to decorate them!

5. Enjoy Some Hot Chocolate

While doing all of this, make sure to have some hot chocolate! This is my go-to drink during the holidays, and there are several hot chocolate flavors you can choose from (peppermint is one of my favorites). Some hot chocolate in a festive mug with marshmallows/whipped cream, and topped with festive sprinkles makes for the perfect holiday beverage.

I hope that these activities help get you in the holiday spirit! Often it's the simple things in life that bring us the most joy, and I personally feel that these festive activities add a little something special to everyday life during the most wonderful time of the year. I hope that you all have a Merry Christmas/happy holiday!
