Airbnb Launches Million Dollar Luxury Rentals

By: Valeria Ramos

The company that found the solution to overpriced hotels and resorts, Airbnb was created when its founders decided to place an air mattress in their San Francisco apartment and charge rent for this make-shift bed and breakfast.

Fast forward to today and this billion dollar company now caters to the budgets of everyone from college kids to the super-rich. Their continuous innovation with features such as Airbnb Plus and Airbnb Experiences allows them to compete and win big in the travel industry.

Their newest venture, Airbnb Luxe, provides people with their choice of high-end rentals from European castles, modern mansions, and even a private island. This new tier brought in 2,000 new luxury listings from around the world, handpicked by the company.

"Only 5% of homes that applied made the cut, " Nick Guezen, Airbnb’s global director of portfolio strategy told USA TODAY. “Each one passing strict evaluation across 300 criteria, such as expert level of design and premium quality furniture."

Costs for these luxury rentals range anywhere from $500 a night to $1 million a week and are outfitted with only the finest 5-star accommodations.

According to Airbnb, “Each Airbnb Luxe booking provides 24/7 access to a dedicated, highly trained trip designer who will ensure the stay is tailored to the traveler’s unique needs. This includes ensuring effortless booking and check-in, coordinating local bespoke experiences and activities, and arranging a wide range of services from childcare, to private chefs to in-house massage therapists – or, for the dedicated, personal training sessions in your own private gym.”

Thanks to Airbnb, our bucket list just got a little bit longer.
