Inside Portland's Craft Beer Festival
By: Valeria Ramos
I was lucky enough to escape the Texas heat for a while and spend the Fourth of July with my sisters and best friend exploring one of the coolest cities in the U.S - Portland, Oregon! Known for doughnuts, biking, and breweries, there is always a beer fest or two going on in PDX.
Located at Fields Park, the Portland Craft Beer Festival brings together Portland breweries and food vendors for a four-day fest of fun.
$30 will get you a cup and 10 drink tickets as well as access to the event for four days. Each ticket is worth a tester (half a cup) of any beer of your choice! From fruit-flavored ciders to I.P.As, there is something for everyone here. My favorite drinks of the day were Cider Riot’s Passionfruit and New Wave sweet ciders.
If you’re anything like me and the crew I was with, 10 drink tickets won’t be enough for one day, let alone four. Good news is you can purchase another batch of tickets right there in the park at any time.
Aside from rows and rows of beer samples waiting to be poured, the festival was full of lawn games like jumbo beer pong, corn hole, and ping pong.
Not only was the park filled with a bunch of happy people in Fourth of July attire, but because the festival is pet-friendly, there were also so many cute dogs of all shapes and sizes happy to be petted and maybe sneak a dropped french fry or two.
If you find yourself in Portland, you won’t have any trouble finding some good drinks and good times, but if you can stumble upon a beer festival, I highly recommend it!
