My Favorite Things About September
By: Lauren Gallup
As summer winds down and mornings feel a little cooler, I’m eager to begin enjoying one of my favorite times of the year, fall. September is a lovely transition month when fashion is changing, foods are enhanced by a new season of produce, and the weather allows for days spent in the sun or curled up watching a film. Here are a few of my favorite things about September:
Hello, scarves, sweaters, and midi-skirts! I love pulling my fall staples out of the closet and getting all cozy! And with the start of a new season, there’s plenty of inspiring trends to try out. Just east of Seattle, Washington, you can check out the latest trends for the season at Fashion Week at the Bellevue Collection from September 25-29. Take your fashion forward-friends to this stylish event to start fall in vogue.
In summer, I often feel like a big, hot meal is too heavy when the temperature is over 75 degrees. September welcomes cooler days when stews and roasts not only sound good but have the perfect in-season produce to compliment them. Cabbage, carrots, and cauliflower are all perfect compliments to fall meals. For ideas about what to cook with these and other in-season produce, check out these recipes.
What a better way to spend the beginnings of the cooler months than enjoying a cozy piece of cinema? A few of my favorites for the season:
The Harry Potter Series: A childhood classic that makes me wish I could ride the train to Hogwarts
You’ve Got Mail: The rom-com of all rom-coms, you’ll find yourself believing in internet dating again!
Mystic Pizza: This movie has all the comforts of fall-good food, good friends, and an old house with a story to tell.
Practical Magic: Because who doesn’t want to be a witch?
I feel lucky to live where I can enjoy a beautiful, lush and sunny summer where the days are long, and the nights are short. But I love cool mornings when a cup of coffee can warm you up and feeling a chill autumn breeze as I walk around my city. Plus, September is a lovely month when we can enjoy foggy mornings and warm afternoons.
